We continue to develop the study of gold materials recorded at Perdigões, a project led by António Monge Soares. The current focus is on a tiny fragment of what may have been a gold sheet, found in the depositional context of a decapitated human head, and on a unique piece at the peninsular level: a crucible covered with small droplets of molten gold. This crucible was recovered from a structure belonging to the most recent timber circle at the center of Perdigões and demonstrates that gold metallurgy took place in this area of the site, associated with intense copper-working activity.
