During the 2020 excavation campaign, a Timber Circle-type structure dated between 2800 – 2600 BC was identified at the center of Perdigões. Consisting of several concentric lines of palisades and alignments of poles / large wooden trunks, this structure is much more complex than initially assumed. Exposed in about a third of its area, it is surrounded and overlapped by some other wooden structures, which reveals an intense constructive activity in the area extending throughout the 3rd millennium BC. This is a unique structure in the Iberian Peninsula, something which reinforces the nature of Perdigões as a ceremonial and aggregating center.
